Asus Padfone Review and Specs

Asus Padfone can be called as Lap-phablet. Now you must be wondering what does that mean. It is a combination of laptop, phone and tablet. Asus Padfone is the all new three in one gadget. Now let’s check out how good is the Three in One gadget. Should you be going for Asus Padfone or is it better to buy three gadgets differently.asus padfone Asus Padfone Review and Specs

Design of Asus Padfone

Asus Padfone is beautifully designed to hold 3 devices at a time. One can feel royal while carrying Asus Padfone. It gives the stylish and modern look and certainly looks like the 2013 modern gadget.

Talking about the phone, the look is very impressive. It comes with a 4.3 inch super AMOLED display. The phone has 8 MP LED flash camera. The image quality is quite good.

The phone has a Power switch at the top for on/off/sleep/wake. On the right, there is volume rocker. On the left of the phone, there is a slot for MicroUSB port.

The design is similar to Samsung Galaxy Nexus (eardrop design) which makes it very comfortable to hold and use.

Talking about the design of the tablet of Asus Padfone, again it has impressed me a lot. It comes with a 10.1 inch display. And like the Asus Smartphone, it has a switch at the top for on/off/sleep/wake. There is a volume rocker button at the left side and the headphone jack.

At the bottom, there is the charging and keyboard port.

Talking about the Keyboard dock, the keyboard looks similar to the one used in Asus Transformer Prime. There are two full sized USB slots- one at the left side and one at the right side.

On the left side of the keyboard dock, there is a battery indicator and charger connector.

On the right side, there is SD card slot. Keys used in the keyboard are small but as there is enough spacing between two keys, the user can enjoy typing on this keyboard.

Processor

Asus Padfone Smartphone comes with 1.5 GHz Krait CPU with dual core processor and Adreno 225 GPU. Powered with 1520mAh battery, the phone can run for 16 hours.

The phone has 1 GB RAM. It comes with inbuilt memory storage of 16/32/64 GB which is externally expandable upto 32 GB.

Talking about the tablet, the display resolution is 1280*800 and the tablet is powered by 6600mAH battery. The whole dock weighs around 724 grams which is heavy.

Both Smartphone and tablet runs on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System.

Battery

In combination of all three, Asus Padfone runs for 105 hours.

Pros

  • 3 in 1 Gadget- Easy to carry
  • Good Display
  • Good Battery Life

Cons

  • Keyboard lacks lustre
  • Very Expensive (not for common people)

Price

Asus Padfone is priced at 65000 INR in the Indian market or $1444.42.

Verdict

For those who needs a Smartphone, tablet and a laptop (keyboard for better typing), and feels it cumbersome to carry all 3 at a time, one must go for Asus Padfone. Only drawback I felt is that it is little expensive. If you have a budget of 65000 INR, the amount is worth investing.

Asus Padfone scores straight 8.5 out of 10 in our scale.

  1. I’ve always been skeptical about products that are not Apple but the Asus Padfone looks promising. I should give it a try.

  2. So….Asus is coming out with phones. That’s great! I was unsure when they decided to expand from just motherboards and other computer parts out to things like computer monitors; which actually happen to be some of the best reviewed monitors made. A brand that is all about quality. Honestly, it’s all about quality to me, not price. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this phone.

  3. Really nice one, thanks for the article ;)

  4. I still find Asus products a bit iffy. I’d prefer to get a Samsung SIII or an over-priced Apple iP5 than spend an entire day tinkering with that thing. Oh well to each his own.

  5. I’ve never been a fan of apple products I currently use a SIII but I’m in need of a second fone for a different network. I think the Asus Padfone will be a great addition.

  6. I’ve always had issues with an Asus laptop I had before. Which makes me think if this padfone is really what it’s claiming to be. I’ll be waiting for more reviews.
