This week, I have decided to run a series of post on search engine optimization, am not doing this not just because SEO is important, rather am doing this because by my calculation the next Google PageRank Update which should be the last for this year should come up by early November 2012.
Today we will be taking a look at some ways by which you can find .Edu blogs and sites that you can comment on for back links to your blog. As a blogger, you should know very well that back links are very important, and one of the most recommended type of back links is the .Edu backlinks because .Edu site are quality and trustworthy sites and search engines such as Google see these sites a s Authorities.
So a link form .Edu site actually has more weight from links from random blogs and spammy sites that are all over the web. There are lots of ways to find .Edu blogs, but I will be sharing just a few that I have seen to work very well.
Here they are:
Finding .Edu Blogs using Google Strings.
Go to Google.com and type the strings below in the search box to find .Edu blogs.
“keyword” blog site:.edu -captcha -nofollow “leave a comment”
site:.edu inurl:”wordpress” + “leave a comment”
“powered by wordpress” “leave a comment”
Inurl:.edu “Powered by wordpress”
site:.edu “powered by wordpress” “leave a comment”
KEYWORDS “powered by wordpress” site:.edu
KEYWORDS “leave a comment” site:.edu
KEYWORDS “reply to post” site:.edu
Note: You should replace the KEYWORDS with the desire keyword you are looking for. If you blog about health, it will be proper for you to replace the KEYWORDS with “malaria”, “diabetes” or any other health related term.
Finding .Edu Blogs using Drop My LInk
Dropmylink.com is a great website that I have been using for some months now to build .Edu back links. The site is in a form of a search engine, all you need to do is to enter your desired Keyword and Hit the Search Button.
This two methods have really worked well for me, and I know it will surely work for you. Get started with your link building today, as I have told you, the next Google pagerank update is around the corner.

thanks for providing such a great site for back links. .EDU site is trustworthy and beneficial site as it enjoys special privilege from google.
Great & really helpful for easily find edu sites and create backalinnks.
They are some very good tips for finding good quality blogs to comment on, but whether they are do follow or not I would still comment on a blog I find useful – especially if I have something of use to the visitors of that blog.
I do still use the Fast Blog Finder tool (I also used the Power SEO ranker tool occasionally for finding .EDU blogs, but havent used it enough yet to give it a proper review) but lets face it once a do follow blog has been commented on 30 odd times (much like this post!) any page rank passed on by it will be as near to nothing as makes no difference.
Provided you keep on looking for good quality helpful blogs you should find that traffic slowly trickles in, and along with it better positions in the SERPS!
Don’t forget you can also use trace a blog’s IP address to find which posts are the most active on an EDU portal. Most don’t know this is possible, but works great. Hope that helps after reading the article from Joseph.
Hi Brian,
that is good to know, can you share some tips about how to go about tracing a blog’s IP?
